    121 Dog Training

    Puppy Packages

  • One-to-One Dog Training

These sessions offer a more personalised training service concentrating on the behaviours that are important to you. Perhaps you have an adolescent or adult dog who didn't make it to puppy classes or perhaps you've rehomed a rescue.  One-to-One sessions are a great way to get your training up to speed. Whether its working on the basics, getting a rocket recall, nailing that loose leash walking, stopping jumping up or just helping your dog be calmer in the home, we can help.

During these sessions I visit you at your home and assess any behaviours that are causing you concern and provide positive force-free training solutions.

An initial consultation costs £75.00 in which I spend 1-2 hours with you and your dog discussing your training needs and observing your dog at your home (and sometimes out for a walk depending on your training needs) and getting you started with some practical training.

Following the consultation you will receive a comprehensive report which outlines the training methods discussed during the session along with helpful recommendations for taking training further.

Further hourly sessions are then charged at £45.00.

  • Our next class starts on 9th October 2018 at 6.30pm at Mid Atholl Hall, Ballinluig, PH9 0LG - Click Here to Register

This is a 9 week course for puppies aged from 11 weeks to 19 weeks old which provides a foundation of learning that you can continue to build on for years to come.

Class numbers are limited to 6 puppies per class to ensure that everyone gets the attention they need.

You'll have fun teaching your puppy basic behaviours like Sit, Lie Down, Stay/Wait, Recall and Loose Leash Walking among others. In week one you are asked to attend without your puppy so that we can teach you basic clicker skills, discuss equipment use and explain how to deal with common puppy pitfalls before getting stuck in with the practical stuff with your puppy on week. You will also receive weekly notes and homework to help you and your puppy progress.

Training is something that everyone in the family should enjoy and everyone is welcome*. This is really helpful for when you get home as everyone needs to be on the same page when it comes to training and consistency is key.

Training methods are always force-free and are designed to avoid stress and frustration for your puppy.

The full cost of the course of nine classes is £95.00 and is payable in advance in order to reserve your space. If you interested in attending the next block just click the "Book Puppy Class" button below or drop us an email at info@k9-kind.com if you have any queries.

(*Children are very welcome to come along with an adult but do we ask that small children have a dedicated adult to supervise them over and above the adult working with the puppy in the interest of safety).

How Would You Like to Trade Your Old Dog Training Equipment for Great Discounts?

We want to swap great discounts on our most popular services FOR your choke, prong or shock collars or any other qualifying pet gear. By participating in “Project Trade” you can earn up to 15% off our most popular services simply by giving us old pet gear* you have laying around. It couldn’t be easier!

    What is “Project Trade”?

Project Trade is the Pet Professional Guild's (PPG) international advocacy program that promotes the use of force-free pet training equipment by asking pet guardians to swap choke, prong and shock collars (and any other devices that are designed to change behavior through pain or fear). Because we want all pets and their guardians to experience the huge advantages and long-lasting effectiveness of force-free training and pet care, we will give you great discounts on our most popular, effective, fun and pain-free training and pet care services in exchange for your old gear.

Effective, humane animal training and pet care methods are the foundation of any animal’s healthy socialization and training and help prevent behavior problems. Since a wide variety of equipment and tools are commonly used when training pets, the pet-owning public needs to be aware of the potential problems and dangers some equipment may pose. Specifically, the use of collars and leads that are intended to apply constriction, pressure, pain or force around a dog’s neck (such as ‘choke chains’ and ‘prong collars’) should be avoided. Distinguished veterinarians and behaviorists worldwide are joining the discussion and calling for the elimination of such devices from the training efforts of both pet owners and professionals.

    What Do the Experts Say?

Respected veterinarian and thyroid expert, Dr. Jean Dodds, recommends against choke or prong collars “as they can easily injure the delicate butterfly-shaped thyroid gland thatsits just below the larynx and in front of the trachea. These collars can also injure the salivary glands and salivary lymph nodes on the side of the face underneath both ears.”

Bestselling author and canine behaviorist, Jean Donaldson, says: "These devices (choke and prong collars), when they work, do so to the degree that they hurt. With the advent of modern methods and tools they are irrelevant.”

According to veterinarian and veterinary behaviorist Dr. Soraya V. Juarbe-Diaz: "Using punishment to stop behaviors is not new. Notice I say ‘stop’ rather than ‘teach’ -- I can stop any behavior, but I am more interested in teaching my students, animal or human, to choose the behavior I want them to perform because they can trust me, because I do not hurt them and they are safe with me, and because the outcome is something they enjoy.”

PPG thus encourages all pet owners and pet professionals to embrace modern, scientifically based, training techniques and tools, especially the latest generation of no-pull harnesses which are free of the risks posed by traditional collars and offer far more benefits. So swap your gear and help create a kinder world for you and your pet!

    Lolly the Yorkie's Owner

    8 August 2015

I recently completed a dog training class with my wee Yorkshire terrier, Lolly which was run by Aileen. I can't recommend it highly enough! We learned so much and there was plenty of one-to-one time as well to ask for extra advice. Was such good fun and met some lovely other people with their dogs too.

    Teresa Smith

    Koda the Cocker Spaniel's Owner

    11 June 2016

Massive difference in behaviour of all pooches at start of classes versus end. Huge improvement for Koda and it's reassuring to know Aileen does 1-2-1 training for refreshers going forward.

    Lillie the Labrador's Owner

    November 2017

Booked a one to one session with Aileen and to be honest was not sure what to expect! Wow the information we received was great. So lovely to hear views on what you are doing right or alternatives to help us. Also with Aileen coming to the house we could show her around and ask for advice. Great value for money too. The report you receive after the session is great too, with loads of interesting links to things that you had discussed. I would recommend Aileen to anyone with a puppy or dog! Not to mention our puppy loved her, especially as she had some great toys and treats with her. THANK YOU

    November 2017

Thank you for coming over this afternoon. I found it to be very interesting, informative and productive. You have a lovely approach to helping dog and owner and I am enthused to continue with our new tasks. You left a happy owner and a totally pooped pup. She has hardly stirred since you left.

    Henry's Owner

    20th Aug 2018

I cannot find words to say how much we have benefited from Aileen's training classes. Our Henry completed puppy and junior classes and both blocks were absolutely amazing. It was not only about training techniques but also about getting to know your dog better, understanding his needs, language and what was so important to me - creating a special bond with your dog. Thank you so much Aileen for your amazing approach to our little Henry, for your patience, reassurance and priceless tips we continue to use in our everyday life. Thank You.

    Holly and Max's Owner

    July 2018

Can't rate Aileen's puppy training classes highly enough. Our two cavapoos have benefited so much from all the techniques we've learned, the information and even the socialising with other dogs has been fantastic. What I love is the whole approach is calm and force-free. You learn that force would never be needed and learn a lot about bonding with your dog and understanding each other. The dogs were never for a moment stressed or unhappy. Aileen is an absolute wealth of information, from food, to toys, leads, breeds and of course training techniques. She has a perfect balance of discipline and affection for the pups and it's just what we were hoping for from a trainer. Kids were made very welcome when they attended the classes with us also. So approachable and helpful. Don't hesitate to use K9 Kapers, I'm so glad we did! Thanks Aileen x

I certainly would recommend Aileen . I had a one to one prior to the classes commencing as I thought I would miss this first class ( I didn’t ) and it was excellent and very helpful and enlightening. I also thought Jane was a great assistant trainer and also very interested keen and helpful ... I’ll miss further training opportunities ...Aileen was an excellent and very patient and understanding instructor ... the dogs loved her and she seemed to have a natural affinity for the animals in the class and vice versa... Jane was also a great asset in every class

We may use the email address you give us to help find more people like you, so that we can grow our supporter base through our online channels. We use third party services to do this which you are likely to be familiar with, including Google, Facebook and Twitter.

When might we add information to your record that you may not have given to us directly?
We may also add information or update your record with us, from our own work with you. This includes the production of reports following training consultations. This information ensures that we have a thorough background information about your dog and you, for future sessions.

These activities help us to provide the best possible service to you, our customers. You can request more information on these activities, or change your preferences, by using the information in the ‘Contacting us’ section at the beginning of this document.

We may use your information to enforce and comply with the law
As with all companies, we ensure that our activities comply with the law. Therefore, we may need to share or use your personal information if we are required to do so by law (for example; in response to a warrant or court order) and we may use information from other sources for the purposes of fraud prevention, for example to comply with money laundering regulations, or to protect people’s rights, property or safety.

Disclosing to the authorities
In circumstances where the client has not given permission for disclosure and the director considers that animal welfare or the public interest is compromised, client confidentiality may be breached, and appropriate information reported to the relevant authorities. Some examples may include situations where an animal shows signs of abuse; where a dangerous dog poses a risk to safety; where child or domestic abuse is suspected; where there is some other significant threat to public health or safety or to the health or safety of an individual; or where the information is likely to help in the prevention, detection or prosecution of a crime.

If a client refuses to consent or seeking consent would be likely to undermine the purpose of the disclosure, the director will have to decide whether the disclosure can be justified. Generally, the decision should be based on personal knowledge rather than third-party (hearsay) information, where there may be simply a suspicion that somebody has acted unlawfully. The more animal welfare or the public interest is compromised, the more prepared the director nurse should be to release information to the relevant authority.
Each case should be determined on the particular circumstances.

Who we share personal information with and why
We promise to make all reasonable efforts to keep your details secure and will only share them if in the future we work with suppliers or professional agents to send out our communications materials on our behalf. We do not currently do this, and if we decide to do so in future, we will carefully select these partners and will only share information with them if we are confident that they will protect it, and we have a contract in place with them that assures this.

We will never share your details with other organisations to use for their own purposes, other than where we are required to by law. We will not, under any circumstances, share with or sell your personal information to any third party for marketing purposes and you will not receive offers from other companies or organisations as a result of giving your details to us.

Transfer of personal information outside of the EEA
Countries outside the European Economic Area have differing approaches to data privacy laws, and that enforcement may not be as robust as it is within Europe’s borders.
The transfer of your information is governed by EU model contract clauses which set out how the organisation outside the EEA is required to protect your privacy rights by adhering to European data protection standards.

We will only work with organisations who process personal information in the USA which have verified their data processing standards meet the EU-US Privacy Shield, which sets out clear safeguards and transparency responsibilities for US-based organisations processing personal information from EU citizens.

Information security
K9-Kind Limited takes the care of your information seriously and protects your personal information in a range of ways including secure servers, firewalls and SSL encryption. We operate a policy of restricted, password controlled, access to any of your information which is stored on our systems.

Children’s information
We do not actively collect information from children (under 18s). If required and where appropriate, we will always ask for consent from a parent or guardian to collect information about children.

Your rights

How to request copies all of the information we hold about you, otherwise known as a Subject Access Request
You have the right to ask for a copy of all of the information related to you that we are processing. You can request this using the ‘Contacting us’ section above.

How to ask us to amend or delete your information
If your information is incorrect, out of date or if there is no longer justification for us to hold it, you can ask for it to be updated, removed or blocked from our use.

How to request your information so that you can use it elsewhere
You can ask for a copy of any personal information that you have provided to us in the past. We will provide it in a clear and easy to follow format. Please note that if you ask for the material to be sent electronically but prefer not to use a secure file transfer, we cannot be held responsible for the security risk to your information as it travels across the Internet.

Our legal basis for contacting you and using your personal information
When you sign up to a newsletter or opt-in to our communications using our forms (eg. a consultation form or online form) or in person, then you are giving us your consent to send you marketing communications by the methods you have chosen (e.g. email or phone call). We will never send you marketing by email or SMS without your consent, and you can withdraw your consent at any time.

If you have provided us with your postal or telephone contact details, but haven’t specifically opted-in to receive our communications, then we will carry out an assessment of whether it would be fair and reasonable to use them to send marketing communications to you without your explicit consent (i.e. it is in the interests of our aims as a business and will not cause undue prejudice to you). This is called a “legitimate interests assessment”. You can opt out of our marketing communications at any time if you don’t want to receive them.

We will ensure we have a legal basis to use your personal information for the other purposes mentioned in this policy (usually with your consent, further to a legitimate interests assessment, or because the use of your data is necessary to comply with a legal obligation).”
