Packaged up like a shiny new phone you'd be forgiven for thinking this is the answer to your doggy dilemmas and not a contraption of cruelty. Most folks don't want to hurt their dogs, they're just desperate and don't know what else to do.
Thankfully, this particular device was never used and instead was surrendered to me through Project Trade. Whilst devices like this can stop a behaviour, it's important to understand that this is done initially through pain (or at the very least discomfort) and then through fear and avoidance. This not only risks destroying the trust and bond you have with your dog, as you change from benevolent leader to jailer, it can also cause untold amounts of fallout, from completely shut down behaviour to serious aggression. Most importantly, it doesn't teach your dog what it is you’d rather they do, be that; recall nicely, ignore the postman or stay by your side rather than charging headlong at any dog they see, the list goes on.
Project Trade exists to help make the right choice easier. We're here to teach, not judge. After all, we know only too well that punishment might stop a behaviour but it doesn't help in teaching or communicating what you want instead.
